New boots/shoes must always be broken in, there is a saying that you will find to be very true " if your feet are happy, the rest of you will be happy ", you  should try breaking in new boots/shoes by running errands to local shops or taking the dog for a walk etc, small journeys, if your feet begin to develope hot spots or you get blistering you should apply blister dressings,  try wearing different socks or indeed try different lacing techniques, either way, keep at it, remember when buying your boots/shoes that your feet will swell by half a size during the course of a days walking, its also worth remembering that you are likely as not going to be wearing two pairs of socks.
